Advantages and limitations of audio visual aids
Audio visual aids are very helpful in English teaching. The advantages of audio visual aids are numerous such as :
(1) They present the variety of experience for students.
(2) Audio-visual aids help in creating interest and curiosity among the students.
(3) They are helpful in creating a natural environment of the subject matter, being taught in the class.
(4) They facilitate the task of a class teacher in all the sub jects.
(5) As English is a foreign language, audio-visual aids make the learning easy.
(6) They are helpful in concentrating pupil’s attention.
(7) They reduce the burden of teachers and make their teach ing more effective and impressive.
(8) Audio-Visual Aids help in explaining the idea precisely, clearly and easily to the students. So they are time saving.
Audio Visual aids are very helpful as well as they have some limitations. These are some limitations of audio visual aids.
(1) Aids are useful but are expensive also. For example: Television. It is a costly aid and cannot be purchased by many schools.
(2) Most of the teachers over-use them, loosing track of the subject matter.
(3) The teachers cannot pay individual attention to the students as they remain busy with the teaching aids.
(4) Teachers are over worked and cannot prepare aids them selves.
(5) In India, class rooms are so overcrowded that there is even no place to keep these aids properly.
